IN 1999, THE TULSA DREAM CENTER OPENED ITS DOORS WITH THE PURPOSE OF FILLING A VOID IN THE COMMUNITY BY EMPOWERING AND RESTORING INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES.
The Tulsa Dream Center is a faith based community center in the heart of North Tulsa. At the Dream Center all of our programs are strategically designed to break people out of the cycle of poverty. We believe the most threatening needs require the most attention. Our three major focal points are Education, Medical, and Hunger. We believe if we meet these needs in North Tulsa, we will see a community go from striving to thriving.
Why North Tulsa?
The North Tulsa Community was once one of the most affluent black communities in our nation. After the Tulsa Race Riot of 1921; it was plagued with drugs, violence, gangs, & poverty. This plague in North Tulsa led to this community being rated the highest crime area of our city and one of lowest educated communities in the nation. According to US News, Oklahoma is ranked number 42 out of 50 states in public education for grades K-12, North Tulsa in among the lowest in the state. The Tulsa Dream Center was founded by Pastor Billy Joe Daugherty at Victory Christian Center in 1999. From that point in time, the North Tulsa community has seen successful, outcome based results.
